Contest: Night at the Museum

In the fall 2014 issue of Academy Frontierswe asked our Kids Club members the following question:
What do you think happens at the Academy after dark?

Our contest winner, Sage K, age 7, described the adventures of the Academy’s dinosaurs after hours. She won tickets to our upcoming family Safari Overnight for her creative story and illustration.

The Mystery of the Night at the Academy

By Sage K, age 7

No one knows what happens at nighttime at the Academy of Natural Sciences. The dinosaurs sleep during the daytime, and at night they are awake.

What happens at night with the dinosaurs? The dinosaurs have a party! They have to be careful because they are made of only bones with no skin or muscles to protect them. They dance, play games, and sing. One night they were playing a game and … they got hurt!!!! They were playing a game where they had to do a gymnastic trick. They never did gymnastics, they only watched kids do it out the windows of the Academy. The dinosaurs didn’t realize that they have different bodies from humans which makes doing gymnastics difficult.

A Brontosaurus did a handstand and his neck was so long it hit the ground, a neck bone fell off, and he rolled over and hit the T-rex. The T-rex did a cartwheel and his tail hit the ceiling, he rolled over and his tail fell off and he hit Triceratops. The Triceratops did a back bend and his horns hit the ground and he flipped over and hit the Stegosaurus. The Stegosaurus did a summersault and his spikes fell off. This is just an example of what happens at night at the museum.

The people that work there were like “Huh?” the next morning. The dinos learned their lesson that they were too big to do gymnastics and now they do dinosaur games.
